Embody consent in everyday life

What is the Wheel of Consent?

Diagram of the Wheel of Consent®

The Wheel of Consent® was developed by Dr Betty Martin and is taught internationally by facilitators trained with The School of Consent.

It is an embodied framework and relational map for clarity, choice and empowered interaction in both touch and non-touch dynamics. The somatic practices taught in the Wheel of Consent® workshop support you to notice, trust, and communicate your desires and limits—not just from your head, but through your body.

By distinguishing “who is doing” and “who it is for,” the Wheel helps untangle common confusion in relating and builds capacity for clear, empowered agreements. New possibilites for freedom, compassion and integrity emerge with profound implications for how we see and experience ourselves, the world, responsibility, and choice.

We look forward to supporting your exploration with this work.

A quick summary

“If you want more trust in your relationships, especially your intimate ones and close ones, then the person you need to trust is yourself. You need to be able to trust your ability to say yes and no, and to ask for what you want - that’s what you need to be able to trust”.

— Betty Martin, transcript from For The Wild podcast
